Courtship CPR

Courtship CPR
Dr. Willise Riché

Wilma is excitedly getting ready for a visit from her suitor. Family in toe, all are preparing to welcome and get to know him. He arrives bountifully and dutifully with tokens of respect in the form of gifts for his love interest and her mother. The plan is to get to learn about each other and families keeping cardinal desires at bay until an appropriate time.

There are simple and old fashioned rituals in courtship that lay a foundation for a healthy relationship or marriage: making a commitment and honoring it by doing your best to work with and through it, working towards a WE rather than the I, to name a few things.

A more modern revival of courtship rituals is necessary in order to strengthen the lovers resolve and character before the commitment. The male/female role is clearly defined and each step brings you closer as friends and lovers. This Valentines Day ( in fact, do it all week/year), try Turing back time and court your girlfriend/fiancé/wife. Beautiful notes, helpful tasks, gifts, candy or flowers just because you're thinking she'd like it. The natural response has always been to court back as acceptance.

We're missing out on great romantic moments by our own hands. Give your love life a courtship CPR and watch deep lasting love take root.
